About the event

Hello friends!

We will be working on USFS trails in the Silver Lake and Kirkwood areas during this upcoming campout. Please bring adequate gear for the weather conditions, and dress with layers to address the potentially low temps. Bring water, stout shoes, long sleeves and your favorite trail tool, we will have extra for the group.

Trail maintenance Times:

Meet before 9am on Saturday at the Horse Canyon Trailhead at Hwy. 88.

Sunday meet at the Kirkwood Wall bar, 12pm. Departing at 1pm for the trails.

Camp Details:

We will camp near Silver Lake at Plasse's Resort in the tent camping area at no charge. The folks there have allowed us to setup camp (the season has closed to the public), and have a little room for the group. We will be near space M10 or F1 (see map below). We will have an outhouse and running water available to the site. Campers can plan to arrive after 3pm on friday. Our team may need to prepare the site for visitors and we ask that you do not setup before we have had a chance to evaluate and explain our boundaries.

Please Bring food for your crew for friday, we will have a camp kitchen setup with places to cook and wash. Please bring your own flatware, plates, cups/mugs, and cooking utensils for each member of your party. We will have a hot water wash station to clean after community meals, this format helps us with the workload and keeps a clean camp.

A community potluck style dinner will be saturday after the trail work, ATS will provide the protein. If you are bringing a dish, let us know in your RSVP or by email. The event BYOB and inebriations in the evenings after trail work, but remember it is an all ages event so please consume responsibly.

Pancakes and fruit are provided for breakfast, and materials to pack a sack lunch for trail work, both Saturday and Sunday. Lunch examples are chips or snack mix items, fruit, PB&J station, and soft drinks. Please bring any food to accomodate any specialized diets or restrictions you may have.

We will be partnering with @peakpursuits event at Kirkwood Sunday, and some of our staff will be leading trail maintenance group courses, and encourage you to join. The event is primarily a women's group event, open to our volunteers, and some of our team will be instructing. We will meet at the Wall Bar at 12pm to depart at 1pm for the trails.

Here is the 7 day forecast for the area, plase review as the event approaches. The weather at this elevation can change quickly, please be prepared for anything from warm weather to light snow this time of year.
